How do I sign up?

An email address is all it takes, and you are done in under a minute. A free lesson ticket lands in your account right away, so you can try a Plazma English lesson before paying anything. Answer a short survey and we will suggest the class format that fits you too.

Can I try a lesson for free first?

Yes. The free ticket you get when you sign up lets you take a lesson, and the free Group Classes held every week need no ticket at all. Try it with nothing at stake, then decide.

What if I don't know my English level?

That's fine. After you sign up, a short survey suggests the class format that fits you, and in your first lesson the teacher works out your level through conversation and sets the difficulty to match.

Do I need anything to get started?

Nothing special. Video lessons need a device with a camera and a microphone (PC, tablet or phone), and audio-only lessons just need a normal internet connection. Lesson materials come with the class in the portal.

Can children take lessons?

Yes. Children can take 1:1 Classes and Kids Group Classes with children their own age. Lessons are run to suit the child's age and level.

What if I need to postpone a lesson?

You can postpone up to 4 hours before the lesson starts, as many times as you like and with no conditions. Within the one-year validity of your lesson package, a change of plans never costs you a lesson.

How do I carry on when my lesson package runs out?

You can apply to extend up to 7 days after your last lesson, and carry on exactly as before. If you turn on optional auto-renewal, the next 12 lessons are charged automatically when 2 lessons are left, so nothing breaks.

Can I switch between audio-only and video lessons?

Yes. You can switch between audio and video whenever you like, whichever suits you.

Do I get feedback after the lesson?

Yes. When the lesson ends your teacher sends feedback with corrections and comments, so you can review what you learned that day right away.

I'm a beginner. Can I still join a Group Class?

Yes. Start with a format that is easy to prepare for, such as Read & Discuss, where you read a text and talk about it. Joining one of the free Group Classes held every week to see what the room feels like is another good way in.

How do I join a free Group Class?

The free Group Classes held every week can be booked straight from the portal with no ticket. Pick a class marked free on the weekly schedule and book it.

Until when can I cancel a Group Class?

You can cancel freely up to 12 hours before the class, and the ticket you used comes straight back.

Can I take only Single Lessons?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can buy Single Lesson tickets on their own, without a lesson package, and use as many as you need. Try it first with the free ticket you got when you signed up.

What happens if no teacher applies to my Single Lesson request?

The request expires automatically and the ticket that was on hold comes straight back. You can change the time and request again.

How do I see which teachers applied?

In your request history in the portal you can see the profiles and proposed times of the teachers who applied, and choose for yourself.

What is the difference between a lesson package and a lesson ticket?

A lesson package is a set number of 1:1 Classes. A lesson ticket books one Group Class or one Single Lesson at a time. AI practice time and feedback comments come with every lesson package.

How long do tickets last, and how many can I buy?

Tickets you buy last 365 days, and tickets you receive as a gift last 90 days. You can buy up to 50 in a single purchase, and buying 10 or more takes 10% off the payment. Expiry is worked out in your own local time.

How long is a lesson package valid?

A lesson package can be used for one year from the date of purchase, and any lessons left after that expire. You can apply to extend up to 7 days after your last lesson.

What are bonus lessons?

They are the extra lessons that come with a package of 36 lessons or more. Bonus lessons follow the expiry date of the package itself, and they are not counted in the refund calculation.

Do I have to pay separately for AI practice?

No. AI practice time comes with every lesson package. If you use up the time that comes with it, you can top it up.

Which payment methods do you support?

Credit and debit cards, and e-wallets. A lesson package code bought through an outside channel can be registered in the portal and used.

What is auto-renewal?

Auto-renewal is optional. Only if you turn it on, the next 12 lessons are charged automatically when 2 lessons are left, and you can cancel at any time.

How do I request a refund?

Which time zone are validity and expiry based on?

The validity periods and expiry dates of lesson packages and tickets are all worked out in your own local time.

How are teachers selected?

Only teachers with 3 or more years of teaching experience take lessons, after coming through document screening, a demo lesson and our training course at a selection ratio of about 100:1. Lesson quality is reviewed every week after selection too.

How is my regular teacher decided?

Register the lesson times you want and what you are aiming for, and we match you with a teacher who fits. After the first lesson you can see how it feels and carry on together.

Can I change my teacher?

Yes. If your regular teacher is not the right fit, you can request a change at any time. We match you with a new teacher around the times you want.

How is the teacher for a Single Lesson decided?
